Katie started out her job as a common gymnast at Barron Gymnastics, but that was not her only enthusiasm.

“I basically was competing in dance at the exact same time as gymnastics,” she said. “And the dance studio provided an acrobatic software, and the coach noticed me and questioned me to join.”

She inevitably switched her focus to acrobatic gymnastics full time. She competed in pairs at Electric power Club Categorical for one particular 12 months before the gymnasium closed.

With only 10 other acrobatic gyms in the state of Missouri to opt for from, her mother Laurie Borcherding stepped in. Laurie reported she didn’t open up her health club entirely for Katie’s needs, but since of her enthusiasm for the activity as effectively.

“It begun from a cartwheel, and then my mentor was in circuses and was like, come test this out,” Laurie Borcherding reported. “And I did. I did acrobatics in the circus, and tumbling in the circus.”

A great gymnast like mother.’ And it’s just sort of like a bond that you have as they increase and create.”

Katie chose to develop into a foundation, a position number of girls turn into at the elite amount since of the huge strength it calls for. But for Katie, power was not an situation.

She worked with a single husband or wife for quite a few yrs, but they break up in 2021.

The one detail Katie couldn’t alter is her top. Becoming shorter than most of her male level of competition, she faced the obstacle of getting a new companion to be the best.

Her associate wanted to be the appropriate top, and at her very same elite amount, in get to contend at the nationwide competition. She finished up acquiring her best match throughout the region.

But Katie continues to be confident as she returns residence to contend where it all commenced — with her mother in the stands rooting her on.

“I can’t even put it into text,” Katie Borcherding explained. “It indicates every thing that she gets to be in this article and view.”

“You get anxious watching as a dad or mum,” Laurie Borcherding explained. “But then also as the mentor, you sort of look at it a little little bit various. Like, ‘be tighter, how excellent was every thing?’ So, it is wonderful. It is surely wonderful to be capable to be right here, and her relatives can be here and observe her, and see what they’re heading to do.”
